The most important component of a home theater depends upon the person, equipment, budget and space everything is set up in, including seating, lighting, flooring, etc. Here are components carrying the most importance.

Location

Left to chance, the set up on the entire home theater system and area could be chaotic. For example, there needs to be room for the projector to show on the screen without interference from anything (high furniture, misplaced lights, etc.) Not to mention, if the main theater viewing screen is not the focal point of the room, many guests will not be able to view anything well, there could be a lack of seating for the right gaming and other screens, quarters could be cramped, remotes and other tools and minor equipment disorganized -resulting in not much fun!

Needs Met

Likewise, if family needs are left to chance, chaos could rain. Let’s say the family budget is a bit tight. The teenagers all have an Xbox console, compatible gaming accessories and games (hence the budget is tight now). Everything is purchased, assembled, placed, up and running. And oops, you realize your wife bought a Playstation instead of an Xbox 360. Could be no biggie, however, the kids wanted to use their old games and compatible Xbox gear and really wanted the Xbox 360 to play live games with their friends who also have the system. Bummer. Plus you really didn’t need a DVD or VCR, but she bought those as add-ons and you cannot return them (or the Playstation). The final straw is that your super-duper speakers are not the kind that work best with your lower-grade media center. So sound quality will be lacking. Had needs been met, this chaos would be eliminated.

Set Up

Ditto chaos with set up, if left untested. As a Tim the Toolman (from TV) example, if you set up all your equipment, hook up all the cables, etc. then rush off to work, not bothering to thoroughly check systems out, uh-oh! You may come home, deactivate your home alarm, and set off your home theater system – all at the same time. And ditto with the video and audio components. Your audio could crank its highest resolution and burst your windows.

Misc Items

Of course same thing with your additional items; your VCR, DVD player, gaming console and other equipment not mentioned above, your chairs, shelves, storage, lighting, organizers and anything else. No one want to trip over a couch, getting up from watching a movie!

So take time to place importance on the main components of your home theater system.

Help answer the question about Home Theater
Is there a home theater speaker system that sounds just as amazing as Bose but at a cheaper price?
I have always wanted a Bose anything because I love the quality and sound from everything they have done. I know they can be a bit spendy. If there are some home theater speakers from other well known and reliable brands that work just as well I am definitely all ears. I am just in the market of buying a really great speaker system!

Are you not wondering what’s new with most of the cinemas nowadays? Take an analysis of it. Before, the sound quality of the movie is not that crisp, it is not as good as now. Due to the recent advances in technology today, man continue to develop the ways on how to make entertainment even entertaining which offers goo quality picture and crisp sound.

You might be familiar with the <a rel="nofollow" onclick="javascript:_gaq.push(['_trackPageview', '/outgoing/article_exit_link']);” rel=”external nofollow” target=”_blank” href=”http://surround-sound-systems.org/”>Surround Sound Systems. You might mistake it with large speakers and larger bass sound. Surround tune system is not that bulky though it offers the same quality sound.

Surround sound system is the latest technology for crisp sound quality. It is mostly heard in movie cinemas and theaters.

It promises all out surround quality with centralized sound. Before, we are contented with single speakers positioned behind the screen, Surround tune technology will definitely change the way you are hearing your favorite movie. What is with the surround out that sets it apart from other sound technologies? The Surround Sound Systems consists of speakers, the remote, and the control system. The pricing varies depending on the specifications.

Surround sound systems, whatever the brand is, have the same sound principle. Say for example, virtual surround system is efficient is giving out quality sound just like the multi-surround sound speakers does, but with fewer cables and minimal speakers. The setting would include two sets of speakers placed in front of the audience and another one somewhere else in the room, just like what some of the movie theaters does. The sound effects will be like a 5.1 surround tune system though it only consists of a subwoofer and two speakers.

Surround Sound Systems use the study for psychoacoustics which is the way people perceive and hear sound through the human ears. The principles applied in most surround sound systems were generally based on the study of psychoacoustics. To ensure better quality sound, experts used different techniques to improve the sound quality while limiting the number of speakers used.

What they do is they normally alter the sound waves using different techniques to improve the sound quality. What we hear in movie theaters is a solid, devastating sound as if the wave is coming from a very big bass system. Do you know that there are generally two speakers installed to come up with a very good surround tune?

Surround sound system can be installed not only in movie theaters but it is also applicable to your entertainment rooms in the comforts of your home. Due to its availability in the market today, even if you are not going to movie theaters a lot, you can experience high quality surround sound at home. With your high definition TV, set up the latest surround tune system.

All you have to do is to purchase a surround tune system, install it, and get the crisp sound quality you are looking for. Why do you have to go to movie houses if you could experience the same quality at home? You don’t have to pay for the ticket since it is free anyway at home.

Why would the sound not work just for those dvds? Also the surround sound speakers won't work with satellite, and the tv speakers won't play with dvd only the surround sound speakers will.

In case you hadn’t figured it out by now, surround sound is named as it is because the sound literally surrounds the listener. While there have recently been significant leaps and bounds in this technology there was a huge gap in time between the introduction of this technology and the significant improvements we have seen in recent years. This is especially true when the evolution of sound technology is compared to how fast the world of video has evolved over the last three decades.

There are many different formats on the market today. This can be confusing for many consumers though the good news is that most devices that interpret the formats do so automatically. In other words, you won’t need a PhD in terminology in order to enjoy the latest blockbuster hit to come out on DVD with your surround sound system. You will however need a good AV receiver and even better speakers in order to get the maximum enjoyment from your home theater and surround sound system.

If you are simply curious or like to know a little about a lot, then you just might find some of the following explanations for common surround sound formats to be useful. Dolby Digital AC-3 is by far the most commonly seen surround sound format. It is a 5.1 channel format (this means five speakers plus one subwoofer). This is what most DVDs will include and some programs that are found on digital cable or satellite channels will have this type of surround sound as well. You can use Dolby Digital for older mediums that do not include surround sound in their format, as surround isn’t required in order to use the system.

Pro Logic is a system used by Dolby in order to translate or decode the signals from other mediums such as old videocassette tapes or television broadcasts. This is becoming widely known for its ability to take two speaker sounds and turn them into shockingly realistic surround imitations.

DTS is the largest competitor for Dolby when it comes to sound. DTS is this company’s answer to Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound. This is mostly seen only on DVDs.

DTS-ES is the above-mentioned company’s answer to Dolby’s 6.1 surround system (this is 6 speakers plus 1 subwoofer). Of course DTS is also going to have their own answer to Pro Logic and that answer would be DTS NEO:6, which is said to produce great imitations of surround sound from existing 2 channel mediums very much like Pro Logic.

You may be wondering why we went through all of this information and the primary reason is so that you know there is a difference and you purchase equipment and DVDs that are compatible with one another. Failure to do so could result in a sound that is less than desirable. Most systems will at the very least support both Dolby Digital and DTS, however, you should make sure that you are aware of the format your system requires from the start in order to make the proper decisions when purchasing.

Much like anything in life the proper formats and surround sound system comes down to a matter of choice. The more speakers (such as you would find in the 6.1 or 7.1 surround systems) will present a great quality of sound than fewer, however poor quality speakers can completely ruin the beauty of the sound of your surround sound system. Your speakers should be your single largest investment when it comes to building your ideal surround sound system.

There are many things that go into creating not only the perfect surround sound system for your home but also the perfect surround sound set up. Do not get so caught up in researching these systems online that you neglect to walk into your local stores and actually hear the sound systems you are considering for purchase. There is noting like hearing the quality of the sound to help you make your final selection.

If you enjoy playing music that sounds great, do yourself a favor and look into purchasing a set of Bose cube speakers. If sound quality is important to you, remember to never place speakers near an open window. The sound quality is much better if the sound can’t escape to the outside.

An instructor of electrical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Dr Amar G Bose founded Bose Corporation in 1964. Because he was disappointed with a stereo system that he had purchased, he began a quest for better sound. He used sophisticated technology to produce a high-quality speaker system, and by 1968 his product was becoming widely renowned. Acoustic waveguide speaker technology, pioneered by Bose, soon found its way into Bose products along with Acoustimasse. These innovations dispelled the conventional thought that high-quality sound was limited to solely large speakers.

There are several other innovative processes developed by Bose and today, you will find their products wherever sound quality is important. The Sistine Chapel and even the Olympic Games have used Bose cube speakers, which serves as pretty good evidence of their superior sound quality. They are used in NASA space shuttles and the Japan National Theatre. Bose has established itself as the unquestioned leader in the sound industry, and their products serve a wide array of purposes. Whether you are looking for a home entertainment system, stage speakers, or sports stadium speakers, you can find what you need with Bose.

The Bose cube speakers Acoustimasse 5 speaker system will beautifully enrich and enhance the ambience of a large livingroom. This kind of speaker system is expressly fashioned to be implemented along with your home theater system. Think about what a thrill it would be to watch American Idol or play Guitar Hero on your Home Entertainment System with a Bose speaker set. It will be like having your favorite artist right in your living room! It will deliver a full range of theater sound and effects. Bose speakers are equipped with magnetic shields, allowing you to put your speakers near your TV and not worry about having picture interference.

The Bose cube speakers Acoustimasse 3 speaker system is specially designed for small rooms. The system will deliver a very impressive performance offering lifelike sound and can be used for rear channel speakers when connected to your surround sound receiver. These Bose cube speakers stand only three inches high (they will practically disappear into your decor) yet they deliver high fidelity sound for both music and movies. In addition, these speakers are magnetically shielded, so you don’t have to worry about interference on your television screen.

Lifestyle Bose cube speakers offer the pinnacle of performance. In addition, they are specially designed to occupy two rooms at the same time. Compared to all other multi-room speaker systems, there is simply no competition. This speaker system delivers another example Bose delivering a small, sleek product which produces sound at a level of volume and quality which is absolutely stunning for such a small speaker (they are only four and a half inches tall).

Shipping prefabricated, custom-designed homes to different parts of the world, Topsider Homes has utmost consideration for its clients, their needs and interests. As such, the company leaves no stone unturned to see that the clients are satisfied, in all ways possible.
The company which started operation in the late 1960s catered to resort development projects and all in the 1970s and 1980s. But later, with the advent of new architectural and Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) technologies in the 1990s, the company started paying attention to individual clients. For the company, each individual matters and hence lot of effort goes into making sure that there is a clear understanding of individual tastes and needs and that everything is done accordingly. It’s this concern that has contributed to the popularity of the company on the international level.

Topsider Homes has plans that suit to all kinds of needs and people. If on one hand the company makes sure that the people in earthquake prone areas are safe and secure, by providing for them earthquake-resistant homes, it also makes sure of the safety of people living in coastal areas, especially those that are prone to hurricanes, storms etc. At the same time, the company has for its clients houses that suit each single need of theirs; for example there are all kinds of home additions- garage additions, master bedroom additions, home office additions, family room additions, recreation room and home theater additions, guest houses, in-law additions (also known as granny flat additions) etc. All these are designed and built as per the specifications and the needs of each single client.

The company also has a couple of unique design plans- the Universal Design and the Aging in Place Design- for people who are approaching their retirement age. These designs make homes more accessible to people with disabilities and physical limitations and come with elements that help people adapt to changing needs as they age.

Thus, with utmost love, care and genuine concern for its clients, Topsider Homes continues to render meritorious service in the prefab homes sector.

I have been looking at Yamaha’s for a long time and was considering of buying one when I ran across the Onkyo on here and the price was UNBEATABLE.

I was in the process of revamping my home theater setup. I removed my bluray player and substituted it with an HTPC setup with a bluray burner so that I can backup my media collection onto my network. Once the Onkyo came in the setup process was quite easy and really intuitive.

One thing that you have to do is figure out the sitting positions that you are using throughout your room for viewing TV, Movies and such. The Audissey will ask you to hold a mike at an ear level in all the places where people sit to view the TV for optimal sound setup.

Once I was done with Audissey, the receiver configured my speakers automatically even though they are 10 year old Technics speakers I bought with my first receiver. I plugged in all of my devices into the unit, including an HTPC, Xbox360, Wii, VCR (yes, they work with this too) and Cable Box and they worked like a charm.

I even managed to set up the 2nd zone for my back yard which was very easy to figure out and work. One quick reminder though if you are planing to do a Zone 2 setup. The 2nd Zone only supports analog input so make sure you run RCA cables from all of your sources into the assigned place on the receiver. Even though you have HDMI or Optical input in the receiver already the unit has Analog to Digital Converter but bit a Digital to Analog one to convert your sound from the inputs already used. Setting it up this way will not degrade the quality of sound in your primary zone. The unit uses the digital signal for video and audio on the primary zone so all you are doing is adding the audio signal for the 2nd zone.

This way I can turn my radio to listen to the game sipping margaritas in the back yard and my wife can watch her shows on the TV on the inside… to tell you the truth, this thing might make my marriage MUCH less frustrating when entertainment is concerned.

I hope this helps!

CheapestOnkyo TX-SR608 7.2-Channel A/V Home Theater Receiver (Black)

Very nice package

The main reason why I swapped out my Harmon Kardon receiver for this one was because the HK has no HDMI ports. Other than that, the HK is an incredible system. I chose the Onkyo over many other receivers because it has an HDMI port in its front face – handy for plugging in a laptop. It seems like this should be common to all new receivers but very few have this feature. One thing I noticed right away when trying out the Onkyo is that you must press two buttons to turn off the receiver – the “receiver” button and then the on/0ff button – a bit of an inconvenience but not the end of the world.

While this receiver does have an incredible array of features (all of which have proven to work very well), I did notice while hooking up all the inputs that there are no 110V switched or unswitched outlets. Every receiver I’ve had before this one has them and I did use the switched outlet in my Harmon Kardon receiver for providing power to a digital temperature controller. This controller turns on a small fan that is placed behind a plasma TV to push out hot air that accumulates in a cavity behind the TV. It was very convenient having the controller turn on when the old receiver was turned on. I’m not sure why Onkyo omitted the outlets but I know now to look for this feature the next time I search for a receiver.

All in all, this is a very good receiver for the money.

I had the an older one this one runs cooler and sounds great. I love all the hdmi ports. A lot of amp for the money.

I primarily bought it because of the number of HDMI ports but also the up convert feature.

I can’t say enough about this receiver. The setup was easy using the included microphone (provided you have a tripod). The sound is great. This receiver is worth the price if only for the up convert feature. My TV has only one HDMI port so I had all sorts of cables connected to the receiver and the TV. When I was done I had one connection to the TV and most everything is a single HDMI cable to the receiver. I also upgraded to a Blu Ray player and the sound and picture quality running through the receiver is great.

Another reason I chose the Onkyo was the HDMI port in the front. I use this to play video from my HD Video camera, plus I can hook up my computer (DVI to HDMI) without trying to get at the back of the receiver.

I am tempted now to go and get an LED 1080P TV now!

I really thought I would just buy another Yamaha, but after researching and reading many reviews from many different sources my brand loyalty was soon to change. CNET gave very favorable reviews for this Onkyo with no downside at a very good price for what you get. Knowing that the Yamaha, Sony, Denon and others had lukewarm reviews I decided to take the plunge and buy the Onkyo. I am very pleased with the receiver. It sounds great! The audysey sound was easy to follow which allows the receiver to dial the sound right for the sweetspot of where you will be sitting. The onscreen display mades setup very easy. I also like the idea of less cables which means less spaghetti in my audio cabinet. Since I am no techie, I am sure I am only using a small part of its potential. The remote is easy to use and sync with my cable remote and my wife and kids now have it figured out how to operate it. I put the Onkyo in my cart and noticed after about a week that the price had dropped and without paying taxes I think I saved about 75 bucks and got free shipping.

The sound quality and the incredible ease of setup is great. I bought a Denon and Sony and both were hard to setup and the sound and video quality PALE in comparison with this Onkyo. I have my PS3 and high def projector hooked up to it and it recognized the PS3 no problem. Terrific clear sound and picture quality even seemed better on my blu ray.

This HT-S3300 comes with 5 surround sound speakers and subwoofers and is well synchronized with the Onkyo micro fiber. It is capable of giving maximum power to your entertainment system and all round performance.

If you’re looking for a future-ready receiver-and-speaker package that won’t break the bank, your search may be over. Meet Onkyo’s 5.1-channel HT-S3300–a system packed with so much advanced technology that it redefines entry-level home theater.HT-S3300 supports lossless HD audio formats from Dolby and DTS–previously the domain of mid-range to high-end receivers only. The HT-S3300 also provides an overlaid On-Screen Display function for easy adjustment of settings, a Universal Port for one-cable connection of peripherals, Audyssey equalization, four gaming audio modes, and a fully immersive, beautifully balanced 5.1-channel speaker set.

Changing your A/V receiver’s settings is now more seamless than ever, thanks to Onkyo’s new overlaid On-Screen Display (OSD) feature. On-screen set-up menus appear overlaid on the video image you’re watching. This means you can adjust the settings immediately, without having to switch back and forth from a blank screen background. If you’re looking for a future-ready receiver-and-speaker package that won’t break the bank, your search may be over.Meet Onkyo’s 5.1-channel HT-S3300-a system packed with so much advanced technology that it redefines entry-level home theater. Has a HDMI repeater and do the switching, so you only need HDMI cables without extra audio cables. Speakers are surprisingly good for this price level, However, it turns out that the audyssey system is factory calibrated to the specifications of the speaker set it comes with and it does pretty good job of acoustic correction.Every piece of equipment provided is black and nicely put together. For some, aesthetics are very important…for others, sound and functionality. I tend to lean towards the latter, beautifully balanced 5.1-channel speaker set.

The three HDMI 1.4 inputs on the HT-S3300′s A/V receiver let you simultaneously connect high-definition sources such as a Blu-ray player, a gaming console, and a cable/satellite tuner. A single output then sends a pristine signal to your connected high-resolution display. As the latest version of this connector, HDMI 1.4 adds the exciting possibilities of 3-D video and an Audio Return Channel. 3-D video is the next big thing in home entertainment, with movie, game, and broadcast content on the increase and 3-D compatible TVs on the near horizon. This future-ready system also offers the convenience of an Audio Return Channel via HDMI. Audio content received directly by your HDTV’s tuner can be sent “upstream” to the A/V receiver, without the need for a separate S/PDIF audio cable. The HT-S3300′s A/V receiver can decode Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio, two lossless formats that enable delivery of a bit-for-bit soundtrack that’s identical to the studio master track. These codecs, previously available only on mid-range and high-end receivers, take advantage of the high data capacity of the Blu-ray format.

I for one can’t imagine entering into my daily commute without the sound assistance of a good auto sound system. Music in the morning is as necessary for me as oxygen and caffeine. If I live without any of those above my day is already up and running with wrong foot first. Music is a very important part of any given day for someone like me. My wake up call in the morning comes in the form of my favorite radio station and from that point on I have music as my companion for the vast majority of my morning routine. That is of course with the exception of children and husband and some of their more insistent demands for food, money, and last minute homework crisis. I will gladly take my music and tea most mornings and skip the drama.

The point of all this is that I am not alone in my morning preference. If I were there wouldn’t be so many variations of the music driven alarm clock. Today you can even have CD player alarm clocks in order to get you up and running to your favorite tunes. Of course this brings me to an important point. A good auto sound system will sound much better than your morning music wake up call. Most alarm clocks will not have the best quality of sound. They are designed for minimal space, minimal intrusion, and to be annoying enough that you will get up (eventually) and turn them off. If the music is good and the quality even better, most of us, can manage to incorporate the music into our dreams and go right back to sleep.

While you do not want your auto sound system to necessarily put you to sleep you do want it to be enjoyable to listen to. You are after all most likely shelling out a good portion of a month’s salary in order to pay for it. Some may say this is extravagant but many people spend more time each week in their cars than they do in front of their televisions and are much more inclined to spend a great deal more on big screen or LCD televisions for their homes. I like being surrounded by nice things and music is one of those things. A great auto sound system is one way that I can bring music into my life day in and day out. I am quite certain that there are others out there just like me. Just like the alarm clock radios, there are many wonderful auto sound systems on the market today competing with one another for a slice of the music lover’s pie. That would not be the case if there were only a select few of us who enjoyed great music.

The trick is always going to be finding the sound you like at a price that is just as delightful as the sound they provide. A good auto sound system is not an impulse buy. This is something you consider carefully, shop around, and compare prices on before you make the decision to purchase. Also consider things such as free installation and how they will affect the overall price when the time comes. It could very well be that the same sound system will cost a different amount at several different stores, if one of those stores offers free installation (depending on the cost of installation) it may be a much better deal even if the cost of the system is slightly greater than those at the other competing stores.

There are many things to consider when purchasing an auto sound system for your vehicle. The most important of those things is how well you like the system you are purchasing.
